The room selections on the website are also confusing. Their 'Executive Rooms' listed on the main page are ONLY the 'Deluxe Rooms' on the booking page.
The staff was friendly and helpful and even tried to get a plumber/maintenance in to fix the tub and either they eventually got it working about the 4th day or we jiggled it into working. Most spoke English and if not, tried very hard to get a translation going.
The location was fantastic and room 61 comes with a small view of the top of the Eiffel. Maybe others on the 6th floor as well. The elevator was in working order.
I am happy with the stay overall. It's a good little place.
I will say the down-blanket on the bed was too warm for me - maybe I could have asked for a different blanket (not sure if they have but we put the temp down to 19c and even then I was waking up in night sweats.)
I'm all over the place with this review and I'm sorry. It wasn't a bad place. I wanted a Parisian hotel and it delivers on that. I think it might have been more money than it was worth esp. with the Wellness Center down but the friendliness of the staff really made up for it. Replaced the coffee pods and water daily and towels every other day.
The standout feature, however, was the warm and welcoming staff. Their friendliness made us feel like valued guests, and their attentive service added a personal touch to our experience. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a delicious start to our days with a diverse selection that satisfied our taste buds.
Situated in a prime location, the hotel made exploring Paris a breeze. The convenience of being centrally located enhanced our overall enjoyment and made Hôtel Bourgogne & Montana a perfect choice for those seeking a cozy and well-located haven in the midst of the city's charm. In summary, our stay was a perfect blend of comfort, style, and excellent service. Highly recommended for a memorable Parisian getaway.
Un immense merci à la merveilleuse Katie qui a été très professionnelle et aux petits soins.
Rien à redire !
Le petit déjeuner est top ! Les gâteaux, mmmmmh !!!
Je recommande.
After extensive research and several cancellations (because I changed my mind too much), The deciding factors were:
1. Price (rates were much better in the off season & I booked several months in advance)
2. Location (close enough and central enough to get to all the sites we wanted via walking), BUT quiet enough to be able to sleep at night without street noise
3. Bathtub -- being as we were visiting during January and I knew it would be cold, I wanted a way to soak in a hot bath every night
4. Aesthetics -- anniversary trip; wanted it to be nice and romantic
We chose Hôtel Bourgogne & Montana, 3 Rue de Bourgogne, 75007 Paris, France, 7th Arrondissement, which is only a 6 minute walk to the Esplanade des Invalides. We went with a Deluxe room, 24m2, king bed, views of Rue de Bourgogne, fireplace (decorative but the mantel provides extra storage space -- ended up being my "hair center"), and a separate bath and shower.
In some of the reviews, there are complaints about their room being small....but that's because they booked the classic (15m2) room; Our Deluxe room was perfect!
Everyone at the hotel was courteous, nice, and extremely patient with our limited French. The hotel is beautiful and provides breakfast (we did not partake in breakfast, but it smelled divine each morning). Anything we needed, we were provided. We were given complimentary champagne and macaroons and the sweetest note on arrival day in celebration of our anniversary. AND as we arrived early (11am), we thought we would just have to store our luggage and come back at 3pm....nope! The room was ready and we checked in early. The street was perfect...a beautiful Parisian street that our room overlooked. It was quiet and we had no issues from noise sleeping each night. AND I thoroughly enjoyed a super hot soaking bath each and every night warming up from being outside in the freezing temperatures all day. Never ran out of hot water and the length of the tub was perfect to lean back and submerge up to my chin. However, the width at the narrowest point in the middle just allowed my hips to fit when lying down....but I fit and the baths were heavenly each night!
Dates: January 3-11, 2033
Cost: $240 USD/night including tax.
Room: we stayed in Room 31.
Other: the hotel and room were very clean; NO bed bugs! And there is a restaurant next door (Hemicycle, though we didn't try it) and a boulangerie across the street, Maison Pradier, which we thoroughly enjoyed)
Negative: It did not affect us negatively in any way, but they were remodeling some of the hotel, which included the stairs....ripping out the carpet and replacing it. They posted an apology note that remodel hours were restricted to 9am-5pm and they stuck to that. Again, we had no issues and any of the workers we ran into in passing were just as nice.
There is no temp control and it’s set to 15 degrees in winter so you’re always cold. The walls are thin so you hear everyone in the other rooms. Only think I liked was the front desk staff as they were really nice and professional.
The hotel is very beautiful and is convenient to walk to numerous attractions, restaurants, grocers, etc. That said, it is seemingly located in a quiet neighborhood. No loud traffic, honking, to deal with.
We stayed in La Ravissante room. It was on the 2nd floor and was VERY spacious for a Paris hotel. High ceiling, plush bathroom with robes (they were out of the slippers though), a heated towel bar (yea!), upscale body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and hand scrub. There was a large tub and a hand-held shower. (One small suggestion might be a fogproof mirror...LOL)
There were lots of windows for light to come in. I mention this because when we arrived I unfortunately unknowingly brought COVID-19 with me. I was very sick for the first 2 days and didn't leave the room. It was so great to have a little more space, light, and luxurious bedding on which to recover! Upon getting sick, we didn't know how to get medical care for me as a nonresident. After Google searching for nearly an hour, my exasperated husband called the front desk. Within 20 minutes a doctor was at my room diagnosing my problem and prescribing medications. The pharmacy was even in the same block as the hotel. The desk attendant was a real blessing! They were totally prepared on how to handle this situation with ease, expedience and calmness. Also, since I couldn't leave the room, we were able to stay refreshed with a bucket of ice and cold water to drink. Once I was well, the various desk attendants over the week helped us with directions, suggestions on places to eat, transportation as well.
We would definitely plan to stay here if we return to Paris.
