( Staff pointed finger at us, interrupting our conversation, denied us services and overall bullying)
Despite paying around £600 in November, they placed another £600 hold on my card for potential extras. The spa, a basic indoor pool area, is charged per hour per person, requiring constant check-ins. This, coupled with the poor treatment, made the experience horrible. Save yourself the trouble and choose another hotel for a better holiday experience.
**Day 1:**
It was New Year's Eve when we arrived and were unable to get a space in the restaurant. Still wanting to enjoy the evening, we asked what there was to do around the town. "Nothing" was the reply from 2 different staff members. However, we were told we could enjoy the bar, where there was live music. That evening, we went to the bar around 6 pm and were ignored repeatedly at the bar. Confused, I went to reception and was told that the bar was closed. We then saw others from the restaurant join us at the bar being served drinks next to us all night. We had our own champagne, so decided to drink some while watching the live music as the bar was mostly empty anyway. Soon after, during a video call with my parents, we were rudely interrupted and told we couldn't drink here, but we could buy 1 drink as a "goodwill gesture" (not complimentary). We agreed and put our own champagne away. A few moments later, after continuing our video call, another waiter rudely interrupted and requested to take the bottle away and reminded us again that we couldn't drink here (despite already abiding by the rules and purchasing a drink at this point). We felt unwelcome and were treated like second-class citizens, with the staff pointing and laughing at us later in the evening.
**Day 2:**
Stressed and a bit hungover, we thought we'd book the spa for this day, as it was mostly full on New Year's Eve. There is an unusual policy where you have to pay €20 per hour, per person here. We went to the spa and saw around 6 people getting changed in the reception area, with no staff in sight. No staff ever showed up to check us in or check the spa. We ended up finding that people were just going in and out at will, so we decided to follow suit. We opened the first door and almost fell into a dangerously placed pool at the entrance of the door. The jacuzzi itself was cold, and the two small saunas were also cold, due to irresponsible users just leaving the doors open. Possibly due to neglect, the shower was also dirty, and some towels smelled strange. Maybe the worst spa I've ever seen. No tour, no staff, and neglected equipment. We told reception about our experience afterward, to which they replied "ok." No refund or apology offered.
**Day 3:**
The plan was to stay out this time. However, that night, a fire alarm went off around 6 am. Everyone seemed to be wandering around the hotel lobby, with some outside, but no staff in sight again. Eventually, a manager came out, didn't seem bothered, and just said they didn't know why it happened.
**Day 4:**
Checking out, we were charged for the spa in the end. It may have been a communication error, but we were both quite sure that we were told that the first hour was free when we failed to book the first day. We're still waiting for the deposit back.
Personnel adorable
