LA PLAGE BY EVACO

I had high expectations for this restaurant, but our experience was far from pleasant. Although many tables near the beach were available, we were only seated there after specifically requesting it—not because the staff offered it willingly, which was disappointing right from the start.
The food was a real letdown. My T-Bone steak had absolutely no flavour—not even a hint of salt or pepper—and was tough & dry. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the waiter insisted that this was how the steak was supposed to taste, which was completely unacceptable. The Béarnaise sauce was nothing more than a clump of butter, not a sauce at all. When we confronted the waiter about this, he simply said that the chef couldn’t make the sauce more “saucy,” which is shocking since a sauce should look like a sauce and not like a clump of mess.
My fiancé's chicken was stone cold when he tasted it. Although they offered to remake it, we were shocked to see that they simply reheated the same dish and sent it back to us, complete with the bite marks from the first attempt.
The only redeeming part of the meal was the Mauritian tapas, which were decent, and the drinks, which were well-made.
However, these few positives were not enough to salvage an otherwise disappointing experience. We definitely won’t be coming back
This was a sign of things to come it seems in terms of service and attitude.
I ordered a medium-cooked t-bone steak, which came out dry, chewy and unseasoned.
Whichever steak you have ordered from whichever country is not relevant if you don’t know how to prepare it properly. If the steak is dry and chewy, it means you have overcooked the steak. So, not only was it not medium-cooked, it was beyond well done. Not only that, there was no seasoning whatsoever. Just an overcooked, dry piece of meat.
There’s no reason for you to be proud when you can’t prepare a grade 1 meat properly. You should actually feel quite embarassed.
The accompanying bernaise sauce, looked laughably inadequate. It just looked like a lump of butter that had been found at the back of a fridge. I can assure you that the 1564 version of the bernaise sauce did not look like this lump - they did not have fridges back then! The bernaise sauce is an actual sauce.
My partner ordered a chicken burger. This fared no better. This was in fact received cold.
This was mentioned to your staff member, who explicitly mentioned that a a fresh chicken burger will be prepared.
To our shock and dismay, the same chicken burger arrived just a little warmed up. I did not know that this is how your famous restaurant treats its customers - microwave-warmed burgers.
This was a terrible experience at a surprisingly reputable restaurant, which got progressively worse from the service, to the quality of food to the outright lying by staff members.
Your response to my initial review, shows you lack the professionalism to handle criticism and lack empathy of customers who have been unfairly treated. Successful businesses listen to their customers and seek to rectify bad experiences and aim to turn that around.
Efforts and commitment by businesses are always valued by customers - you have not done that, either at the restaurant or by your response to my initial review.
Infact, I am so upset by this experience that I will take this matter further and lodge a formal complaint to your senior management by this disgraceful service.
