We liked our stay here! It is a small and beautiful hotel, very nice staff, smells amazing and is very clean. The pool area, spa and beach were great as well - there is a free snorkeling trip you can sign up for at the water sport booth. The breakfast was amazing, 10/10! We would highly recommend to include this in your booking.
There was also some things we did not like as much. We would have liked to do some water sports (sailing, windsurfing) - but they stopped offering this Post covid. We booked the 'breakfast only' option because we had read about the restaurant being not the best. We tried it for both Lunch and Dinner. It was not bad food, but for the price you pay it was also not great - we did not like it as much. It did not feel like a good option so we mostly went out for dinner (better food and prices), but without our rental car this would not have been possible.

Wonderful property with extremely nice and helpful staff. We especially enjoyed waking up with a sunrise view from our room, the most comfortable bed, the large shower and toiletries provided, and the in-room sound system. The hotel has a very relaxed vibe - you could be barefoot all the time if you wanted to. Near the spa, there was always a beautiful and relaxing scent, and we loved passing by this place. The entire hotel is also very Instagrammable, with plenty of spots for capturing the perfect picture.
For breakfast there were plenty of healthy options from the a-la-carte menu, homemade kombucha, fresh tropical fruit juice, and delicious pastries and jams. The private beach is sandy, and there were always sunbeds and beach towels readily available during our stay.
We would recommend renting a car to fully explore this part of the island (e.g. beaches, temples etc.), because the hotel is in a quite remote area. It is also worth mentioning that the food prices at The Good Kitchen restaurant are quite high (e.g. up to 30€ for a portion of fish), so we opted for dinner at the nearby Trou d'Eau Douce on a few occasions for more local and budget-friendly options.
All things considered, SALT of Palmar is among our top choices to stay when we visit Mauritius again!

Service is very dependent on who is your server. Waited 45 minutes for a cocktail while bar staff stood around talking with no other customers. Waited most days 20 minutes for an expresso. The food is overpriced, fish is baked well done , and choices are poor. Management non responsive and we travel the world and this is a place we will not return.

I believe we were upgraded with an amazing view of the ocean and pool. Many delightful benefits and eco aware hotel. It is located right on the beach with a very nice hammock to rock in.
Food and beverage prices reminded me of Scandinavian 5-star hotel prices. Very high, but that's the price of luxury, I guess. Many ingredients were locally sourced, and the hotel was proud to show that off in their app and by the gift shop.
Staff at the gift shop (receptionists) were friendly and attentative. Their concept does not require a reception. Instead, they seat you by their library and check you in via their tablet. They serve you a fresh beverage while you wait. Luggage is brought to your room while the staff member explains the hotel.
Drinks at the bar were nice, and the bartender got excited to see me film the drinks as they were prepared. So, I invested a little bit of energy to make a nice video for him to post on his social network. =)

Really one of the best hotels I ever have been, and I have visited many. The service was just fantastic. the crew really did so much to make our 3-week-visit extraordinary. They really showed us that we are welcome guests. I still miss your so delicious food, especially breakfast. The cocktails are worth trying, especially Midnight Moon. you surely will not get anything similar in other hotels. The spa is also worth visiting. Thank you so very much for the nice birthday cake, too, and of course for our honeymoon cake. Lots of greetings from the blind Finn and her German husband, and once again, thank you!

Also gibt nix in der Gegend. Tauchschule erreicht man vom Strand aus - wirklich sehr empfehlenswert!

???? Positiv:

I’m in love! ???? Upon arrival it smells so beautiful and you’re greeted with a fresh juice as you check in. The staff are excellent and everyone is so pleasant. The rooms are gorgeous with a big shower! Choose a room with an ocean view if you can, it’s more than worth it! The free activities are fantastic, from sunrise yoga to water aerobics as well as making your own body scrub. Most definitely hop on every boat trip you can haha. Attention was paid to my dairy and gluten free diet and each day at breakfast I was directed towards food that met my requirements. Everything is freshly made in the kitchen and delicious. Such a stunning hotel, had a magical stay and would definitely recommend and book again ????

Small but very cozy hotel with a unique concept of treating its customers casually like as if they were hosting relatives or friends. With no TV in the rooms, they try to induce you in exploring around or have fun by participating in games or other activities. The food is served 'a la carte' but is of high quality. So you get to choose a 3 set meal course for dinner from a large choice of menu including some local food. Despite being on the East Coast, if there's good weather, you get to enjoy a beautiful sun set with all its different shades reflecting on the crystal blue sea.

I really don’t understand why there is so many positive reviews for this place, but please trust me, it’s not worth your money.
My fiancé and I visit Mauritius once a year, we typically stay in a villa with my family but this time we thought we’d experiment staying at a hotel just the two of us, for a romantic get away. Our stay was 3 nights (Jan 1st - 4th 2023) and to be honest, it was 3 days too much.
FOOD:
Extremely overrated, overpriced and very often the food was spoiled or inedible. I’m not the type of person to send food back to the kitchen but when the steak is so tough you can’t chew it or when the yogurt was clearly left outside all morning it began to ferment… that’s when I have a problem. I complained to the staff numerous times and rather than fixing the problem they just apologise but it kept happening time and time again. I read a review from a prior guest who had FOOD POISONING from this hotel, and it doesn’t surprise me one bit. When it was edible it was mostly very meh.
DRINKS
Overpriced, overrated and has barely any alcohol in it, are you noticing a pattern here?
SMELL
On our last day, there was this awful swage smell that was lingering all day around the pool area and during our last dinner at the hotel, the staff thought that supper would be the PERFECT time to sort out the horrendous sewage stench.
I kid you not, there was a man sorting it out TWO METERS away from guests eating their food. How they think this isn’t a health and safety violation I do not know…
SERVICE:
Some servers were very friendly but good Lord was the service slow.
NOISE:
Our room was next to a public park, where locals would often have parties in the middle of the night. So keep that in mind.
CLEANLINESS:
Never changed sheets or towels, never didn’t sweep or mopped either, there was sand all over the room. The cleaners basically just make the bed and turn on the air-con.
SPA:
Unenthusiastic and miserable. One of the staff walked in the room without knocking while I was getting changed, didn’t apologise.
LOCATION:
Beach front which is great but there isn’t many restaurants at walking distance.
OVERALL:
We did end up complaining to the manager. He was very friendly but always disagreed with our feedback, or had some sort of “reasonable explanation” for every one of our complaints. I.e "Your steak turned out tough and dry because we aim to ensure the safety of our pregnant guests by preparing all steaks to an extremely well-done level”
But not to worry he gave us a free branded reusable water bottle for our troubles.

Dear Nadezhda,
I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the less-than-ideal experience you had during your recent stay at our hotel from January 1st to 4th, 2023.
Firstly, I deeply regret the subpar quality of food you encountered. Please be assured that we take such issues seriously, and I will be following up with our culinary team to prevent any recurrence. Your dissatisfaction with our beverages is also disheartening, and I will be discussing your feedback with our bar team to ensure improvements are made.
I would also like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the sewage issue during your last day with us. I understand how the handling of the situation affected your dining experience, and for that, I am sincerely sorry.
Regarding the slow service you experienced, I apologize for any inconvenience and will be addressing this with our team to ensure more prompt and efficient service moving forward. The disturbances you faced due to the proximity of the public park are also regrettable, and we will be considering measures to mitigate such noise for our guests.
In terms of cleanliness, I'm sorry to learn that our housekeeping did not meet your expectations. I will review this matter with our team to ensure that our cleanliness standards are upheld consistently.
I apologize for the negative spa experience you had, particularly with our staff member. I will be addressing this incident with the spa team to ensure it does not happen again.
While our beachfront location is something we cherish, I acknowledge your concern regarding the limited dining options within walking distance. We will look into how we can enhance the convenience for our guests.
I understand that you spoke with our manager during your stay and were not entirely satisfied with the responses you received. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail and work towards a resolution. Please contact me directly at [email protected] at your earliest convenience.
I hope you know that your feedback is invaluable to us and that we are dedicated to making the necessary improvements to ensure our guests have a memorable and enjoyable stay. I sincerely hope you will consider giving us another chance to provide you with the high-quality service you deserve.
Sincerely,
