Our room was small but clean and functional and the bed was comfy so we were able to get a good nights sleep after exploring all day. While there isn’t an ironing board and iron in each room, we DID have a steamer which I LOVED! There are designated floors with “ironing rooms” and everything you need is located right there. My husband was thrown by the lack of a dresser or closet so he could fully unpack and ‘move in’ for the 4 days we stayed, but ended up figuring out how to hang everything on the wall pegs. It may sound weird, but it’s functional.
Like many hotels in post pandemic times, housekeeping didn’t come by during your stay unless requested.
The bar area was super cute and fun with all sorts of games to pass time with if you get stuck inside with sideways rain and flash flood warnings for a few hours.
Staff was friendly and had great recommendations for just about everything.
I would absolutely stay here again and again. For the location and value. I don’t think our experience could be matched.
1. Valet never came out 9no sign informing you that their is valet or directions), I couldn't park my car on the street via signs, and waited on hold calling the front desk for 8 minutes before I drove around the block and parked in the parking garage next door. Far, unsafe, and inconvenient. After I got to the lobby, the staff was all sitting around at the bar area and had me wait 2 minutes to get greeted...
2. The gym. Missing equipment that they have on display to workout with (take down the POINTLESS posters). There were no mats for the ground so I laid the sweat towels on the ground for my workout. I had to use 9 of them. 4 of them were for the ground and the other 5 had HAIR on them. 5 of the sweat towels 5, had a piece of hair on them. What the hell... you clearly are not washing those...
3. The bathroom/shower. I go to take a shower after my workout... and you wont believe it... all 3 of the towels they gave me had brown marks, or a whole black hand print on them. I bet you thought that yeah... that just validated me on if the hotel washed the towels lol. Naked, ready to get in the shower, I had to put back my gym clothes on, call the front desk for towels, and wait. At least the new towels they brought me were clean and warm from the dryer.
part 2 of # 3. The shower head piece that is detachable was facing the shower door and guess what... I turned that sucker on and it sprayed the whole bathroom with water. Now all my new towels were wet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :). Finally, I get to take a shower and the water went cold after 3 minutes. I luckily turned it off and 1 minute later hot water came. I've never experienced cold water come out of my hotel shower.... have you?? If so, they need to fix the water heater for a place that's supposed to shower 100+ people.
4. The Bedroom. I had crumbs on my floor, the light under the bed wasn't working and I figured it out because I saw a mysterious cord hanging from under my bed horrified thinking it was a camera or recorder. No coffee maker, and the internet on my TV is not connected. I am also right next to the elevator and across from the ice machine. literally what the heck.
I hope your experience isn't as bad as mine. At the moment, I highly DO NOT recommend this specific Moxy hotel.
My room reeked of cigarettes, the smart tv didn’t work, it was missing a trash can, the sliding shower door wouldn’t stay closed so water got all over the bathroom, and the other room we rented didn’t even have a window.
The room was big but otherwise very basic: no fridge, no window (just a blacked out mock window), no hand towels, no shampoo (I had to wash my hair with hand soap), no trash can in the room (only in the bathroom) ... There was also a gross smell in the room and stains on the sheets that looked like they could have easily been cleaned if someone actually tried. The room wasn't cleaned during our stay.
On the plus side: the location is great. It's about a ten minute walk to Bourbon Street. And the staff at the front desk was friendly, just very busy at times, so prepare for a bit of a wait.
FYI: There are two parking garages next to the hotel where you can park your car for around 30 $ a day.
The soaps in the bathroom were at most one quarter full. Worse, EACH washcloth provided had yellow stains - not clear if they’d ever been bleached.
Combined with the very small rooms,
I am disappointed and will not return. The location is good, but there are many other options in the area
