OLD MONTEREY CAFÉ

We can’t have dairy so we unfortunately always have some limitations for what we can have when we go out to eat. This is completely understandable; however, serving food with items that don’t have dairy without communicating this ahead of time so we can change our order if we want doesn’t sit right with me. We ordered an eggs Benedict but couldn’t have any type of bread in the establishment because it’s all pre buttered. This wasn’t stated until the food was already on our table. I got a burrito without sour cream but I guess the guacamole had some dairy in it because they completely left that out. It could have been substituted for a plain avocado. Overall, not worth the price (2 breakfast meals over $30) mainly because the communication and service. We saw our server three times: when we ordered, when we got our food, when we got the check. Another gentleman (not a server) helped us more than our own server did.

Coffee service was good (because of the other person not the server) and they season the hash browns which was enjoyable. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend due to price not matching quality. But there’s a line out the door at some point so people must like it?

Ordered the eggs and bacon. It was good food.

Excellent food & service, and warm atmosphere. Great place to get a hot meal and a blast from the past with their walls of memorabilia all around.
