The Girl & The Fig ist ein gehobenes französisches Restaurant.

Loved this place for dinner. Come hungry as it is a very good a filling meal. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It is a bit on the expensive side, but is definitely worth the experience.

I heard wonderful things about this restaurant - however, the manager was incredibly disrespectful to my table. We were a party of 9, women in our thirties celebrating a marriage. We were not loud or obnoxious, but we engaged in heartfelt conversation. The manager approached us and told us many people complained about our volume. There were 3 other parties in the restaurant at the time. None of them complained. The staff was kind, however, the manager of the establishment treated us like animals. He spoke to us as if we were delinquents. Will not be returning, and we love Sonoma. Do not attend if you are a party of 5 or more.

I took my family here while in Sonoma, and it was one of the best meals. Reception was quick, and even though the restaurant was mostly full, it wasn’t too loud to have a conversation.

The duck liver mousse was smooth and creamy. The Brussel sprouts and pork belly were a perfect combo - it almost seemed like the pork belly was candied. This could be a meal by itself.

The cheese and pate platter was good, but it was overshadowed by the other starters.

The mussels were perfect - the white wine and leek sauce paired well and made for tasty frites. Pro tip - you may consider getting all of mussels out and eating it like a soup.

The duck confit was recommended, and it did not disappoint.

I’m adding this to my rotation for the next time I’m in Sonoma.

Es un lindo restaurante en el parque ppal de Sonoma. Pedimos un plato de vieiras y otro de pato. El de pato no nos gustó mucho porque era bastante hostigante pero estaba bien para probar comida francesa. El plato de vieiras estaba delicioso.

In the heart of Sonoma, where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see and the air is perfumed with the essence of grapes ripening under the California sun, there lies a culinary gem that captures the very soul of this wine country - a girl & a fig. It’s a place that eschews the pretension often found in gastronomic havens for a down-to-earth charm and warmth, much like a beloved, well-worn cookbook filled with recipes that speak of home, history, and heart.

Stepping into a girl & a fig, you’re enveloped in an ambiance that whispers of rustic elegance and a certain je ne sais quoi that only Sonoma could lend. The menu, a love letter to the region’s bounty, promises dishes that are both comforting and exciting, familiar yet novel. It’s here, at a quaint table bathed in the glow of subdued lighting, that the journey begins with a roasted red pepper soup. This isn’t just any soup; it’s a velvety concoction that dances on the palate, each spoonful a blend of smoky sweetness and subtle heat, a testament to the beauty of simplicity when anchored in superior ingredients.

Then comes the duck confit, a dish that, in lesser hands, could easily falter but here is elevated to a work of art. The duck, impossibly tender, falls off the bone with a gentle nudge, its skin crisped to perfection. It's served atop a canvas of seasonal accompaniments that amplify the richness of the duck, creating a harmony of flavors and textures that sings of autumn.

The pièce de résistance, however, is the roasted winter mushrooms with whipped farmers cheese. It’s a dish that defies expectations, a symphony of earthy tones and creamy decadence. The mushrooms, roasted to bring out their inherent umami, are juxtaposed against the lightness of the whipped cheese, creating a balance that is both bold and delicate. It’s a reminder of the magic that can happen when simplicity meets the extraordinary, a hallmark of this unassuming yet unforgettable restaurant.

a girl & a fig stands as a beacon of culinary excellence in Sonoma, a place that embodies the spirit of the region with every dish served. It’s not just about eating; it’s about experiencing the essence of Sonoma, of partaking in a tradition that celebrates the land, its produce, and the sheer joy of sharing a meal that’s been prepared with thought, care, and a dash of whimsy. In a world that’s increasingly complex, a meal here is a return to the basics—food, wine, and good company—all served with a side of Sonoma’s indefinable charm.
