$600 for an off-season room haha.. Way to take advantage of the human connection to nature and profit off of the earth.

Rip off. This review is based on a major failure to meet some minnimum expectation of this supposed high class place. The website describes “elegance”. Nope. Im a simple guy, and never have high expectations, but come on. At least make it look like you are trying. The rooms were just “ok”. However, you would think for $800 a night that there would be clean bathrooms, furniture without holes, and maybe nice towels or something. The bar kitchen took 40 minutes to get a brownie out one night. 40 minutes for a breakfast burrito and served dry pastries. $30/night for Valet. Lame. Ive stayed in Yosemite nearly 20 times over the years and always dreamed of one day being able to live it up at this place. Just felt like the whole experience was a huge rip off.

We didn't have reservations, but that didn't prevent us from entering the lobby and appreciating the ambiance and breathtaking views.

Worse than a Border Patrol detention facility and nothing like what it used to be.

We stayed in a cabin that literally was worse than a Border Patrol immigration detention facility. There was mold throughout the unit, frigid temperatures in the room, a couch with a sketchy stain on it, and a closet that cannot even hold clothes on a hanger. Yes, really, if these conditions were present in a Border Patrol facility, it would fall within the judicial definition of “cruel and unusual punishment” and violate the injunction issued in Doe v. Mayorkas, U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona Case Number CV-15-00250. Noncitizens held in detention get better treatment than what cost us more than $600 per night. It’s a complete shame, because this hotel is nothing like what it used to be, and in no way should it be considered a four-star hotel. The staff working at the front desk was incredibly rude and dismissive. Cassidy in particular was noteworthy for being someone who hung up on my wife (who has experience working as a concierge at two different Forbes Five Star properties) instead of making any effort to improve our stay or make up for our horrible experience. One star is generous for what essentially is a run down shack in the woods. Aramark should be ashamed of the way it is destroying the legacy of a place that used to be a great property.

5 isn't enough stars... WOW. Everyone here is great. The location has books written about it. The room (426) has a perfect view of halfdome... no really "perfect"

There is no place on earth like the Yosemite Valley and the Majestic Yosemite Hotel. It is my all time favorite hotel, and I will never be tired of it. My husband, daughter and I go there every year in the off season when the wood burning fireplaces are crackling in the great room, which is open to the public and yet so serene and private. Whoever makes decisions for this hotel has wisely cherished its history and has made every effort to continue its proud traditions, such as high tea at 4 pm, which I enjoy after an invigorating day of hiking. Its dining room is truly fit for a queen, as I understand from the wait staff that Queen Elizabeth came to dine there in the early 80s. The wait staff are highly trained professionals who could have chosen many different career paths but are there because they want to be. People like Jerry, who has been a waiter at the hotel for almost 4 decades, inspire me with the fact that he could have chosen to leave the hotel and be a general manager, but he stayed because he loves his job. He made a point of talking to my 14-year-old daughter and honored her by sharing a bit of his life story. Through hard work, he was able to purchase a home, raise kids and now enjoy his grandkids. I also met a young man who was following his parents footsteps in working as a waiter at the hotel. He had good reason to be proud of his parents -- his father was the head waiter of the dining room, and his mother waited on Queen Elizabeth. I love these precious stories!

Just a quick update: A special thanks to Devon, the assistant chef who carves the prime rib in the dining room each night. He was so lovely and welcoming! He took pride in his work and his manner of service reminds me of America at its finest.

Took my wife and mother here for lunch in the main dining room. I have dined here numerous times when it was the Ahwahnee and always had an outstanding experience. The service was impeccable as always and the views breathtaking. I have to say though, the food was incredibly disappointing. The menu lacked any creativity and I know it's a 4 star hotel but $21.50 for a basic Reuben sandwich with crappy frozen fries is a bit much. We ended up ordering a burger with a house made poppy seed bun, a shrimp Cobb salad and a grilled chicken sandwich with the same poppy seed bun. We received our food and neither the burger or sandwich had the house made poppy seed bun, it was a low quality gross bun that came from Sysco. Also, the burger was over cooked and underseasoned. The chicken sandwich was basic. The fries were frozen shoe string fries and worse than what you would get at a fast food restaurant. The Cobb salad was underwhelming and the shrimp consisted of a half cup of cold, boiled tiny shrimp....smaller than popcorn shrimp. I was expecting nice sized, grilled shrimp. The dressing for the Cobb was a Louie dressing which was really just a cheap version of 1000 island. Not a Louie dressing at all, it lacked the chili sauce, scallions and anything else that would have made it interesting. We also had 1 cup of hot tea, 1 beer and the bill was $86 before tip! I don't mind paying more for an amazing meal but this was just plain awful. I honestly could have had a better, tastier meal at Chili's and I detest chain restaurants. I am disheartened at how such an incredible landmark that previously had one of the most superb restaurants went downhill. Ever since Aramark took over the hotels, restaurants and concessions in Yosemite, the quality, cleanliness and overall experience has gone down the drain. Hopefully a new company will take over soon and restore Yosemite and the Ahwahnee(it's rightful name) back to its original glory.

The Ahwahnee Hotel

Striking granite facade, magnificent log-beamed ceilings, massive stone hearths, richly colored Native American artwork on, and finely appointed rooms should make this a shining example of what what is considered to be the premier lodge in the Yosemite area (It is not - shame in you, Aramark. But you should see it anyway)

The Ahwahnee Hotel is located in the majestic, jaw-dropping main valley inside Yosemite Park near the base of Half Dome and Glacier Point. This hotel, built-in 1927, is a National Historic Landmark and should be one of the most distinctive resort hotels in North America. You will find the Ahwahnee Hotel in the center of Yosemite Valley, an ideal location to view Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, and Glacier Point.

Completed in 1927, The Ahwahnee Hotel features a blend of design influences including Art Deco, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Arts & Crafts Movements. These elements can be seen in every aspect of the hotel including stenciling, woodwork, lighting fixtures, and china patterns. Every room is designed for comfort and visual delight and reflects the natural surroundings and Native American influence of Yosemite's past.

Some of the most well-loved aspects of The Ahwahnee Hotel are its grand public spaces featuring giant stone fireplaces, massive hand-stenciled beams, rich tapestries, and elegant stained glass.

Aramark needs to implement Disney Training and also hire more staff. That’s all I have to say. Such a grand old lady needs care????????

I went to a buffet here that cost around 60 dollars per person, and guests could eat as much as they wanted. There was a variety of dishes, but the cuisine was somewhat dull. I tried to eat a lot, but ended up feeling too full and falling asleep.

Must pay valet parking with only a discount for dining there. Aramark is molding Yosemite into a discount airline. Everything in the park has a price. When will they begin charge for tap water?

The view from the room window was amazing, but the room is not better than the middle range hotel , the restaurant is fancy, but the food is not that good, it's only buffet service, and some times the food dishes empty and are not replenished????

Only went to the bar, and while it's pretty pricey and you are required to pay for valet parking, it is a nice spot with drinks and good food. Historic place worth checking out.

All things considered. Nothing stays the same. Given that construction is ongoing and that the kitchen ran into some problems, things are looking up. There is no room service at this time. Some areas are still closed. We stayed here before it was taken over by Aramark…before the original sign was stolen. As a kid, we would come and hang out; too poor to stay. Also, stayed when it was The Majestic. And during the pandemic. I don’t like having to pay for parking, but it’s valet only, and the valet staff were excellent, so it didn’t feel like a ripoff. All the staff were helpful and friendly. I think if The Ahwahnee keeps on track they will get back to their prior glory. I’m not a believer in paranormal activity, but I’m pretty sure at least the elevator is haunted; it did some strange things…as I walked up the doors just flew open; I didn’t push the button. I dunno. Anyway, my favorite place to stay in The Valley is The Yosemite Valley Lodge…The Ahwahnee is second. The view from our room, number 324, was incredible. See pics.

Came here right before firefall to get some last minute caffeine after a jam packed morning and night prior. Asked the bartenders if they could somehow add coffee to their hot chocolate and they indeed provide that for us. They were very kind and patient with us figuring out what kind of mix of hot chocolate and coffee we’d want (1 or 2 shots of espresso, mix it with drip coffee, chocolate sauce, etc etc). It wasn’t busy for us at 2 pm (but was also on Super Bowl sunday) and felt like the bartenders treated us very kindly! Drank our drinks in the hotel lobby looking out at half dome and wondering where this hotel gets all its artifacts. Great well rounded experience for a quick break in the day.

To be honest I’m quite disappointed by the hotel rooms! It’s so cold inside the rooms , there is no blankets or comforters and the pillows smells food, as well the mattress sinks as soon as you lay down. Very disappointing!
