SILVER SANDS BEACH RESORT

1* reviews are difficult to hand out because it affects a small business owner’s ability to provide for their employees, however, sometimes they are needed as a wake up call to do better, to be better. Silver Sands Beach Resort can do much better, let me explain. Called to make the reservation and specifically asked if there any ocean front rooms available and did those rooms have a view of the ocean. The gentleman put me on hold, after a minute or so he came back and said yes. Stated the price would be $400 dollars per night, I said no problem, let’s book it. Hoping it would be a last great night of our vacation before heading home. Get to the motel, the gentleman in the lobby super nice, very professional. The lobby had a great vintage vibe going on, I was initially excited to be there. We travel 2-3 times a year, rarely staying in large chain hotels/motels, always trying to find local restaurants, local businesses to help. With that said, the initial excitement wore off as soon as we got to the room. A door that made a horrible noise upon opening it and closing it. A lot of nails and screws in the parking lot, unsure how cars weren’t getting nails in their tires. Bugs galore. I saw a cockroach in an outside vent (tried to take a picture on 2 occasions but wasn’t successful). Hinges on the doors rusted something awful, looked like the doors were about to fall off. Sliding door to our room was awful. Couldn’t hardly lock it. Multiple sheetrock repairs looked like had been performed by someone who had never worked in the trade before. Broken tiles in the shower, sink counter cracked. And then there’s the view from our room. There’s a MASSIVE sand dune in front of the 3 rooms that are “oceanfront” and COMPLETELY BLOCKS the view. I have pictures to confirm what I just stated (minus the front door making a horrible noise upon opening it and the sliding glass door not hardly sliding or locking). And then upon checkout, there was no place to leave the room keys (we had to leave before 6:00 a.m.) to catch our flight.
$400 dollars, for 1 night seems more than unreasonable, considering all the items mentioned above.
Do better.
