LIGHTHOUSE HOTEL - KEY WEST HISTORIC INNS

My stay included a free breakfast which consisted of assorted pastries and bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt and a choice between three kinds of juices, coffee, and tea. It was basic but Key West is expensive, so I'll take a free breakfast.
The room I stayed in had an old smell to it which I got use to but upon returning home all of my belongings held on to that smell. I had to air out my suitcase and backpack for a day.
The room was clean and I didn't mind the sound of the a/c as I like white noise to help me fall asleep.
As a solo traveler I would recommend this place but it is rather small and more than two people in a room could be challenging.
The Good: Great location, across from Hemingway House and next door to the lighthouse. One block off Duval and a short walk to most places of interest.
The dissapointing: The rooms are incredibly small, with no thought to travelers. There is nowhere to put a single suitecase, much less two other than the floor. The bathroom is equally as small with a single pedestal sink so you only have 3-4" on either side of the sink for toiletries. Our room had no coffee pot, waters, lotion or any of the basic amenities you would expect from even a motel. Lastly, property just felt tired and unkept. The floors are very uneven, the plaster in the bathroom was cracked and dingy by the toilet, the privacy film on the bathroom windows was peeling off and the pool was missing huge ares of plaster to snag your suit on. I understand it is a historic hotel, just not something I figured Kimpton would put their name on in this condition. Also, not a hotel I would have spent that kind of money on, there are far better and cheaper options on the island.
