И это Африка!)
Positiv ist noch, das es eine Waschmaschine gibt und Handtücher.
Lots of shared spaces within the hostel to relax, well equipped kitchen with unlimited free tea and coffee.
Quite a lot of traffic noise meant I didn't sleep very well but the rest of the family were fine.
Side is the best tour guide and friend you could ask for!! Thank you Side.
For the rest the room was nice and couzy and everyone there was super nice. If I knew I would have spent more time there
One thing I didn't like was the very many stairs. The house is only accessible by stairs (probably why it's called a balcony house) but this means it's not suitable if you have a physical disability. Not much can be done to change this, so you'd have to find lodging elsewhere.
The hotel is Ideally located, beautiful with nice arab touch design in the heart of Stone Town. The architecture is atypical and lovely. The facilities are very well provided with good Wifi connexion, a washing machine, and several living rooms and balconies to chill and relax.
Our main interlocutor was Saed. He was very kind, available and provided us great with advices regarding places to visit and local restaurants to eat etc.
We booked 2 activities with Balcony house at very affordable prices:
- half day trip to Prison Island and Nakupenda that we really loved and higly recommend
- full day safari blue which had several down sides that need to be improved. First, there were some delays so we had to wait an hour at the beach without any indications before the activity started, then we were 37 (inluding staff) on a boat with a capacity of 15-20 max, some of the people had to sit on the floor and we counted only 3 safety jackets. Finally, the captains provided only 1 tent of approx. 3m² to shelter the 37 people from the midday sun on a sand bank we stayed 1.5 to 2hours on.
