HOTEL CLARIS ^{* * * * *}

The worst soundproofing I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive but the rooms have hardwood floors, concrete walls and no soft surfaces to reduce noise.

As people walk down the hallway the noise echos through the rooms, the housekeeping staff put down bottles of water on hard tables and it reverbs down from rooms above.

When a room nearby/above uses a shower or toilet you can hear the water in the wall.

I really hope that hotel management redesigns the rooms with carpet in the hallway and bedrooms. But I don’t see this being fixed in the near future. It’s trying to be arty instead of functional.

The location is great and staff are wonderful. We’ve moved rooms and booked a suite so I can only imagine how bad a normal room would sound.

The worst experience ever. Please do NOT stay here, your safety is at risk. We arrived at night and the stuff took our bags away while we were checking in, then we realized one of the suitcases had been stolen.

We asked the management for an explanation, help or at least a kind word of support, but and I never saw management SO dismissive and disrespectful. When it was only her (Asian female) they told her "don't worry, your insurance will pay for everything", but when I spoke in Spanish and they realized I am a native speaker, the staff attitude changed abruptly, but still did nothing. I explained to them that I was flying to Ireland for work right after Barcelona, but they didn't seem to care that I would have to go out and spent thousands of Euros buying everything again.

At the end, I had to go to the police station and give a statement, then gave a copy back to the hotel to see what their response would be. Guess? They offered me free breakfast. Yes, their solution was to offer me breakfast.

The only humiliating and disgraceful 5 star hotel in the heart of Barcelona that on top will not guarantee your safety.

So if you are Asian, be careful, you are THEIR target.

La peor experiencia en muchos años. Por favor NO se queden aquí, porque su seguridad está en riesgo. Llegamos de noche y el personal se llevó las maletas mientras hacíamos el check-in, luego nos dimos cuenta de que una de las maletas había sido robada.

Le pedimos al personal una explicación, ayuda o al menos una palabra amable de apoyo, pero nunca vi una gerencia TAN desdeñosa e irrespetuosa. Cuando estaba solo mi compañera que es asiática, le dijeron "no te preocupes, que tu seguro pagará todo", pero cuando yo les hablé en español y se dieron cuenta de que soy nativo, su actitud cambió de repente, pero aun así no hicieron nada. Les expliqué que yo volaba de Bercelona directo a Irlanda por trabajo, por eso necesitaba mucho las cosas de la maleta, pero no pareció importarles que tuviera que salir y gastar miles de euros comprándolo todo nuevamente.

Al final tuve que ir a la policia y dar una declaración, para luego darle una copia al hotel para ver cuál era su respuesta. ¿Pueden adivinar qué hizo el hotel? Pues me ofrecieron desayuno gratis. Sí, su solución fue ofrecerme el desayuno.
