I had booked this hotel months in advance and I should have checked regarding elevator and rooms as I was travelling with my mother who is in her 80’s. Luckily she is still quite mobile as we had a room on 2nd floor so she had to walk up 4 flights of steps! We were in room 20 which I would advise to avoid at all cost, here’s why. On entering the room you are in a narrow hallway with another door in from of you into the bedroom on your left are sliding wardrobes and on the right was another door into a small cupboard that had the toilet! Which by the way you couldn’t close when you were sat on the toilet as there wasn’t enough room so you felt like everyone going up and down the stairs passed your door could hear you in the toilet. You then had to walk through the bedroom to the opposite side into the shower room to wash your hands - totally unhygienic. The hotel had clearly painted the little hallway and toilet recently as all we could smell in the whole room was paint which kept us awake most of the night that and the sound of people going up and down the stairs and using the toilet in the room above us.
The room was not clean there were hairs on the floor. And it was rather dated.
We were travelling with my dog and the hotel advised us that the dog would not be allowed to accompany us if we dined in the hotel or to breakfast which I found strange in France as usually she is welcomed everywhere. However I accepted this rule but when I asked if we could sit in the bar area (it was cold out and they had a real fire and comfortable chairs and sofas which for my mother would have been ideal) I was told no as the hotel was full. So we had to stay out all evening and when we returned before 10pm there two people in the bar so it wasn’t even full. Then when we checked out and I was asked if the stay was okay and I said disappointing the receptionist asked me why ans I politely told her the reasons which she didn’t address except to say she would have said we were allowed in the bar with the dog. All of this was so disappointing. We stayed in many hotels across France and Spain that were truly dog friendly this hotel is not and was the most expensive on our roadtrip. I wouldn’t recommend and I would not stay again.
The service was over the top. Wonderful and it made our stay very special!????????
