I went here yesterday after the parade for the quebec carnival. TOURISTS, DO NOT VISIT! YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT WELCOME! This old person at the front was extremely rude, took forever just to get our order. I should NOT have gave him any tip. Please fire him.
Fui ayer despues de el festivo de el carnival de quebec. TOURISTAS, NO VISITEN! SU NEGOCIO NO ESTA BIENVENIDO! Este viejo calvo fue demaciado grosero, tomo una eternidad para tomar nuestra orden. No debia dejar propina. Porfavor despidelo.
The sauce was too salty but the cut was perfect. Entree bisque also too salty and little seafood in it. Desserts were great! Table d'hote was very affordable for the location on Grande Allée.
Our evening commenced with inventive cocktails. The L’Avelanche—a vibrant mix of Vodka, Curaçao bleu, lime juice, and soda—was a refreshing opener. Meanwhile, the classic vodka martini, with its crisp and clean profile, was a testament to the timeless.
The arrival of a thinly sliced, toasted French baguette set the stage for the culinary delights to follow. Its crunchy texture and warm, inviting aroma were a simple yet satisfying pleasure.
The appetizer selection was a showcase of the kitchen's creativity. The escargot encased in puff pastry, bathed in a luscious cheese sauce featuring Saint Honoré de Portneuf cheese, honey, and roasted hazelnuts, was a standout. Accompanying this was a vibrant mixed salad and a bowl of lobster bisque, enriched with Nordic shrimps and a dollop of sour cream - a dish of comforting complexity.
For our main courses, the Roasted Guinea Hen Supreme for her was a masterful preparation. Stuffed under the skin with a flavorful mushroom blend, it was paired with mashed parsnips, red cabbage seared with bacon, and a juniper-infused poivrade sauce—a symphony of flavors. For him, the Braised Beef Cheek, prepared bourguignonne style, was the epitome of comfort. Accompanied by Nantes carrots, rich Yukon gold mashed potatoes with cheese, and brussels sprouts, it was a dish of heartwarming indulgence.
Though the dessert offerings were tempting, we concluded our meal with signature cappuccinos, a perfect end to an exquisite dining experience.
Louis Hebert is indeed a noteworthy discovery in Quebec City's vibrant food scene, offering an exceptional dining experience that comes highly recommended.
In short: this is one of the best meals I have purchased in my life.
We wandered in during lunch and found it empty. We walked back to find the owner vacuuming. "Hard to hire help" so he only has dinner. He was so pleasant that we came back for dinner, and we are so glad we did.
You can see by the picture that there is artistry in the preparation. The tastes were distinct when necessary and the blends were perfect.
Thank you for a perfect meal!
They have an extensive wine menu and truly delicious entrees, the service was great and not too overbearing.
We enjoyed our hours of sitting on the patio amongst the flowers and taking in the Quebec City night life.
This is a must visit when in Quebec City and we truly recommend it for special occasions, as well.
I should add that they have delicious desserts on their menu.
Une équipe de rêve pour le succès du restaurant. Je vais refaire les 4h30 de route seulement pour déguster d aussi succulents plats❤???? succès au chef et à notre magnifique et humoristique serveuse????????
We asked for a suggestion for the wine and the lady server told us, “The wine list is over there” (pointing to the table next to us)…
We ate the linguine, but did not touch the beef and complained with the server, who in turn called the manager. The manager took away the dish and admitted that we were right with our complaint. He offered to replace it with another dish. We should have left right then and there, instead we decided to give them another chance and ordered the hen dish. The latter, again, came within 5 minutes!!?? The hen had a very bland taste, nonetheless we ate it, after all it was getting late to try to book another restaurant. We complained with the manager, again, and let him know that we were very unsatisfied and that the service and food did not meet the expectations of their ratings. The manager only said, “I am sorry”. So we paid the bill in full and left. About 10 minutes later, while we were walking nearby, the manager asked us if we wanted to speak with their chef. We agreed and told this person (we later learned from another source that he was a sous-chef or just someone in the kitchen who spoke english) the same thing. He agreed with us that the beef was not right and then added, “it was not cooked enough”…That was a lie because the beef was “overcooked”, not undercooked! They offered us some free dessert, but we declined. Too late!
What a disappointment in this place. We had made a reservation (strongly recommended), but the place was actually empty.
