- one of the reasons I booked this place was because it says they have parking. Not true. You have to park at a public parking. Which is fine, but don’t say then that you have private parking at the hotel.
- very overpriced. Very old amenities. The shower fell off. I asked to fix it, they barely did. They just shoved it in a bit more so it could hang there for another day or two.
- the patio where you have breakfast is filled with about 20 pigeons. Disgusting and very unhygienic. We didn’t bother having breakfast there after the first morning and just went to a cafe.
- because of all this I decided I wanted to leave after the first night. The lady started screaming at me and told me I had to pay the second night nonetheless. I was in shock. She never asked me why I was unhappy, she wasn’t interested to improve our experience. She was just screaming at me about the payment.
The whole experience was very disappointing.
Barbara is an amazing hostess. Every recommendation of hers was spot on. Including restaurants, laundry facilities and services, taxi services, special events, and tours.
The breakfast spread offered each morning was completely beyond expectations. The offerings included (But definitely not an exhaustive list, too much to name) meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurts, olives, sundried tomatoes, marinated peppers, yogurts, cereals, and a number of specialty desserts /bakes..many made by Barbara herself. Everything was delicious.
Barbara makes you feel like you have family in the city and you can count on her to help make your vacation/stay fantastic.
Highly recommended. The greatest breakfasts you can imagine (One Star Michelin) all home made and unique. What a breakfast - best ever (and we are older people 70 years)
Then I forgot our Rick Steves bag (the one he says is secure but doesn't cover "stupid" which is me taking it off and forgetting it.
Barbara (the proprietor) got hold of the cab driver and worked it out that the bag (untouched) was brought back a couple of hours later.
We had such a delightful time that if we are ever near Florence again - we will stay at Il Villino.
Toward the end (2 days before) we realized we would not be able to get to Rome for our flight (our flight was from there) and, once again, Barbara bailed us out. Setting up the train rides we needed to get to Rome and writing out the directions concerning each step.
Wonderful place to stay - quiet, great service, wonderful food.
