My wife had booked a 3 hour Glacier ride with Skálakot Hotel and we had a great time unfortunately the winds where very strong but we still got our 3 hour ride in staff where lovely and very friendly the horses where amazing and the food on the restaurant was a delight also the cats in the stable where super friendly and nice to see after being away from our own pets for a few weeks would highly recommend

We stayed here for our first 3 nights of our honeymoon in the master suite. First and foremost - the room was absolutely incredible with a great view. The hotel was cozy yet had exquisite dining options, furnishings, and plenty of activities. We ate dinner each night of our stay at the hotel and it was one of the best dining experiences we had in Iceland. The meals, the staff, the feel of the restaurant was all incredible. We LOVED the spa and went on the 2 hour horseback riding tour that was very relaxing. We even had the opportunity to stargaze and get a breathtaking view of the northern lights right outside the hotel (late September). The hotel staff was by far what makes this place so special. Every encounter we had was very pleasant and it is obvious they aim to make sure all guests feel right at home. Hotel Skalakot is a must stay if you are planning a visit - it is an amazing property and hotel, but most importantly is staffed by the most hospitable and friendly people in Iceland. We cannot wait to visit again!

Skalakot Manor was an absolute dream. My husband and I went back in September for our honeymoon and it is a place we will never forget. First off, the hotel itself was just gorgeous. You walked in and felt right at home. The staff was wonderful and so nice! They truly made the experience unforgettable. They even made sure to wake us if the Northern Lights were out. As for the food, we ate there every night because it was so good! Our room was very clean and just so cozy and pretty. The spa was beautiful and so relaxing. When we go back to Iceland, that’s the first place we are going to stay again. It made our honeymoon just incredible and will hold a special place in our hearts.

The very BEST of Iceland!
Have you ever enjoyed a place so much that you didn't want to write a good review of it for fear that too many other folks might start staying there? That is exactly how we felt about our stay at the Skalakot. From the moment we pulled into the drive, to the moment we left, we enjoyed EVERY aspect of our stay here. The setting is beyond picturesque and having the Icelandic horses coming and going is an authentic addition that really makes the experience that much more unique and unforgettable. The property itself is immaculate, the food was outstanding, and the staff was absolutely superb in every regard. For those of you planning your trip to Iceland and planning on staying in Reykjavik the whole time, the Skalakot is worth a trip to the South Coast all by itself (and there are plenty of other amazing things to see on the South Coast as well!). We always like to leave one area for improvement or a small critique in every review, but the only thing we could come up with is that the Skalakot is just too far away for us to visit more frequently! Plan your trip to Iceland around a stay at this little gem, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic hotel that had a real sense of luxury. The staff were great and extremely friendly. The spa facilities provided a much needed R&R session and the location makes for a great stopping point for people looking to do a road trip. Would definitely look to stay here again.

This was our second stop on 18 day ring road tour of Iceland. This was my family's personal favorite place to stay. A beautiful location. The hotel was equally gorgeous. I loved the hot tub, & sauna. The service, the cuisine was wonderful. The atmosphere was lovely. The highlight was definitely the horses! Our ride and the sights along the way. Our guide taking pictures. A very special and unique experience. We will treasure always.

Positive: I loved the bed-and-breakfast vibe, like youÂ¿re staying in a cool old house instead of a hotel. The bed was also VERY comfortable. And the soap/shampoo smelled awesome. Negative: When I turned off the lights in my room at night, it seemed to turn off every single outlet in the room. This was a convenient way to turn off all the lamps at once, but it meant I couldnÂ¿t charge my phone/electronics while sleeping.

Hotel pas testé. Notre meilleur restau d’Islande !! Beau, bon, très joliment dressé, super service.
Ride en cheval en famille au top : mais on conseille les ballades « cascades » de 1h ou 2h. La ballade « sable noir » de 3h est ok mais une grande distance avec traversées de 2 rivières parcourue pour 5 min sur place pour photos. Pn avait imaginé trotter longtemps sur la plage.

Le meilleur et le seul hôtel agréable de tout notre séjour en islande. Une décoration soignée, un accueil chaleureux, on s'y sent très bien. Et en plus le restaurant est excellent. Quant au petit dejeuner, ce fût parfait, des crêpes faites maison, du pain délicieux, un porridge succulent et du saumon gravelax. Et le tout pour un excellent rapport qualité prix. A recommander absolument

Nous avons fait une randonnée équestre de 3 heures avec une guide vraiment sympa. Nous avons adoré ! Et avons dîné au restaurant ensuite, très bon et personnel très sympa !

While we didn’t stay at the hotel our group did dinner and a horse back riding tour and had a great experience! I tore my ACL prior to the trip and couldn’t join in on the horse back riding and they were incredibly accommodating and especially at such short notice. I was able to get a 30 minute massage and spend time in the spa waiting on my friends- and it was honestly the best massage I’ve ever had. Food wise I had the goulash, caesar salad, and a mojito and it was delicious. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience doing the 1 hour waterfall horseback riding tour here! Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable about the horses and area. We had mixed experience levels in our group and everyone was matched to a horse that fit well with that experience! The waterfall was beautiful as well, and it was a nice peaceful ride. I would definitely come back to do one of the longer rides on our next trip!

My husband and I held our wedding reception at Skalakot, we found the venue through our wedding planner @Sigga @PinkIceland and we had the most amazing time. We booked out the venue for two nights for our wedding party and it was the most beautiful venue with the most amazing team. The food was excellent, the rooms immacualte and the service outstanding. The team looked after us from start to finish, including steaming my wedding dress at late notice, ensuring we had everything we needed and allowed the wedding party to feel completely at home throughout the two days. The spa was also magical, particularly after our wedding ceremony, and my husband and I were able to spend an hour relaxing before the wedding reception started. I could not recommend this hotel enough.

While we did not stay in the hotel, we rode horses through the resort and had lunch afterwards. The service at the complex is amazing- everyone was overly friendly. The horseback experience was perfect for novices, including a scenic ride down to a waterfall. Our guide, Melania, was there for the summer and was very engaging.

Afterwards we enjoyed a fantastic lunch in the Manor. Food was outstanding, as well as the service.

From start to finish, it was a highlight.

On our next trip we will definitely stay at the manor for a night or two.
