MELIA SKY

Bad things:
- Tiny rooms, around 12sqm (room itself). Do not trust the data "offered" in hotel website saying "the Melia room is 24 sqm".
- Furniture is already outdated (see picture of the chair and its "ecological leather" that was peeling in zillions of small pieces all around the room)
- Towels are old and tired (see picture with one of them)
- Reception staff is most of the time incompetent, especially middle management that is completely unprofessional.
- Restaurant is not recommended. I had and octopus marinated salad that was not eatable and a steak coming from the oldest cow in the Univers...
- Cleaning average, I stayed two weeks and one time I was asking for vacuuming because of the zilions pieces of "ecological leather". The answer was that the vacuum cleaner is not used for cleaning (?). When I was insisting, the lady in charge started to pick the small parts one by one, using the fingers...
- Other amenities: Fridge was far of doing its job, Flushing the toilet was not as expected, many times the water continues to come without ever stopping automatically.
Acceptable things:
- Breakfast
- Quietness
- Part of the staff, those on breakfast area and in the 16th floor bar.
The only good thing:
- Location. But this is intrinsec and not the merit of hotel management (which is, again, very poor)
From the moment we stepped into the hotel, the warmth of hospitality enveloped us. The staff, true ambassadors of excellence, went above and beyond to ensure our event was not only seamless but also memorable. Their attention to detail and commitment to service excellence are truly commendable.
The hotel's luxurious ambiance and state-of-the-art facilities provided the perfect backdrop for our Rotary Club meetings and events. The meeting spaces were not only well-equipped but also exuded an atmosphere of professionalism, fostering engaging discussions and meaningful connections among our members.
The culinary experience at Melia Maputo Sky Hotel is a true delight. The diverse menu offered a range of delectable options, satisfying the varied tastes of our club members. Whether it was a casual meal at the restaurant or a more formal gathering, the culinary team consistently impressed us with their creativity and attention to taste.
Moreover, the hotel's commitment to sustainability aligns seamlessly with the values of Rotary. It was heartening to see their eco-friendly practices, from waste reduction to energy efficiency. It's evident that Melia Maputo Sky Hotel not only prioritizes guest satisfaction but also strives to make a positive impact on the environment.
The central location of the hotel is an added advantage, making it convenient for our members to attend meetings and events. The breathtaking views of Maputo from the rooms and common areas added a touch of elegance to our gatherings.
In conclusion, Melia Maputo Sky Hotel has become more than just a venue for our Rotary Club – it has become a partner in our mission to make a difference in the community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for their dedication and exemplary service.
If you're looking for a venue that combines luxury, functionality, and a commitment to community service, look no further than Melia Maputo Sky Hotel. Our Rotary Club highly recommends this exceptional establishment.

A short list of everything wrong with it:
1) I found a bloodstain on my pillow - they had put a clean pillowcase over it to hide the stain;
2) found a bloodstain on the sheet;
3) the sheets were rough, poor quality, and clearly cheap;
4) the bed itself was hard as a rock;
5) the bathroom had a weird smell;
6) the towels were thin, small and cheap - one bath mat was threadbare and had a hole in it;
7) the wifi was abysmal - slow and unreliable;
8) the light switches are all finicky, but in my room, the one for the bedside light was falling out of the wall;
9) weird stains in the carpet;
10) furniture in the rooms of poor quality - the faux leather of the desk chair was disintegrating and got all over my clothes;
11) the breakfast was foul - the very few choices included: stale pastry, rubbery chicken sausage, gritty scrambled eggs, tasteless fruit, burnt coffee, etc.;
12) the rooftop bar was disappointing - nice view but the drinks were sweet and of low quality and the burger they brought was dry, cold and covered in plasticky cheese with no sauce;
13) turns out the “health club” is the gym next door that you have to buy a voucher to use (about £25);
14) you’re only permitted one 500ml bottle of cheap water per day - when I ran out and asked for more water, they sent me a 1L bottle through room service and charged me 600mzn (£7.4)!!!
15) standard business hotel toiletries weren’t available including shower caps or shoe mitts;
16) no iron or ironing board available
The staff were perfectly pleasant, but this place is clearly being mismanaged. The neighbourhood is convenient for offices and meetings, but otherwise boring with no cafes or food options. Stay anywhere else in Maputo. I’ve stayed at other places in the city that are half the price but twice as nice.
