I tagged along on my husband’s work trip. It was my first trip since having our baby who is almost 4 months old. He wanted to book a nice hotel so we would be comfortable and he looked for a 5 star hotel. We wanted a king bed, room service, and a pool to swim with the baby. In the booking I saw that he also ordered flowers for the room. It was very sweet and I was so excited to get out of the house and travel.
After he booked the hotel I noticed that the website said the pool and spa were closed, but that guests could use a nearby hotels facilities. We discussed moving hotels, but decided to continue with the booking.
Unfortunately this hotel did not live up to expectations set by Google reviews or their own website. The interior is very dated and in need of repair. The service is hit or miss. Some people were nice, but most are doing the bare minimum. I don’t blame them.
I was never greeted when I walked in or out of the hotel. No big deal. More importantly, the front door was barely manned, which is alarming because it’s right by the train station and they have guest bags *all over the lobby*. We never received the flowers. I mentioned it twice to two different people, no one seemed interested in correcting the mistake or looking into it.
The first room we were given was small and did not have a king bed, despite all the rooms on their website claiming to have 25 square meters and king beds. I politely asked to be moved and a nice man at the front desk gave me “a really great room”. It did indeed have a king bed but the next morning I found that the sink was leaking water, which came down the half wall of the bathroom and made a puddle in the sleeping area of the room. This was after normal usage of washing my face and brushing my teeth. I inspected the area and saw that there was mold on the wall and rot in the wood.
There are no full walls in the room. The bathrooms are sectioned off with glass sliding doors so there is virtually no privacy for using the toilet. You can hear everything. And the entire bathroom gets flooded if two people shower.
I went down to the front desk to tell them about the leak. The man was dismissive about my concerns and said he’d get someone to fix it. I said fixing mold was not an hour long job and I would like a new room. He said he would have maintenance inspect it and to come back later.
I returned twice. One of the times they asked ME if the maintenance man had been there. It’s not my job to track these things; I’m on vacation. The leak was never resolved, the mold was never taken care of, we were never offered another room or even asked about the leak. Honestly I just gave up because I figured it wouldn’t make a difference.
The same day I noticed many handprints in lube on the silver vinyl headboard. Very gross. One of the stools was covered in dust and the coffee machine had some kind of crusty white stuff on it and lots of dust in crevices. I waited to see if housekeeping would get the handprints or the dust. It didn’t happen, so I cleaned the handprints off myself using baby wipes. It was easy to do, but alarmed me that the rest of the room was not being cleaned well.
The bed was basically a box spring with a duvet on it. The box spring had no sheet or mattress protection. Very gross. It was very uncomfortable and the sheets were so rough they left tiny dreads in my baby’s hair.
The “complimentary” water was already opened. Maybe they are refilling the bottles and hoping no one notices.
On the last day, housekeeping walked in without announcing themselves at 9.00.
Don’t stay here. The positive reviews must be fake because even if the suites were very nice, the rest of the hotel still falls far below 5 stars.
Ein besonderes Dankeschön und Lob an das Rezeptions- und Housekeeping Team, die uns mit ihrer exzellenten Betreuung während unseres Aufenthalts beeindruckt haben. Die Überraschungen auf unserem Zimmer haben uns und unseren kleinen Dackel sehr gefreut.
Das Sofitel ist unser neuer Lieblingshotel bei jedem München Aufenthalt - egal ob privat oder beruflich.
Der Wellness Bereich war leider in Renovation, daher nutzten wir die Badewanne im Zimmer. Das war auch toll. Beim Check-out hatte es leider eine Warteschlange, daher nutzten wir den Fast Check-Out.
Upon arrival, I was dismayed to find the rooms falling well below the standard I expect from a luxury hotel. Despite efforts from Zander at the front desk to remedy the situation with a room change, the alternative offered little improvement, with a disappointing view of a concrete wall.
When I politely requested to cancel my reservation, Zander initially assured me that it could be done without fees, contingent on an email from American Express. Regrettably, the hotel later reneged on this agreement, insisting on cancellation charges.
This inconsistent and unaccommodating behavior left me disillusioned and dissatisfied. I urge fellow travelers to exercise caution when considering Sofitel Munich and instead explore alternatives such as The Charles Hotel Rocco Forte, where superior service and reliability are guaranteed.

Unser Zimmer war nicht nur schön gestaltet, sondern auch äußerst komfortabel, sodass wir uns wie zu Hause fühlten.
Abends genossen wir die entspannte Atmosphäre an der Bar, wo das Personal nicht nur nett, sondern auch aufmerksam war, was unseren Aufenthalt noch angenehmer machte.
Das Frühstück bot eine breite Auswahl an leckeren Speisen, darunter auch vegane Alternativen, was uns sehr positiv überraschte. Es war schön zu sehen, dass das Hotel die Bedürfnisse aller Gäste ernst nimmt.
Ein besonderes Dankeschön und Lob möchten wir Frau Jana Berger aussprechen, die uns mit ihrer exzellenten Betreuung während unseres Aufenthalts beeindruckt hat. Die Überraschung auf unserem Zimmer war das Sahnehäubchen unseres Aufenthalts und hat uns sehr gefreut.
Insgesamt können wir das Sofitel München wärmstens empfehlen und freuen uns bereits auf unseren nächsten Besuch in diesem erstklassigen Hotel.
