It was here, at the bar, under the soft, inviting lights, that I had the pleasure of savoring my first American Old Carter. The bartender, a connoisseur of spirits, presented the bourbon with a grace that only added to its rich, complex flavors.

The bar, with its intimate setting, serves as a prelude to the grandeur that unfolds within the restaurant. As an aficionado of fine bourbons and whiskies, the allure of such an event hosted by the masterminds themselves, Sherri and Mark Carter, is irresistible. We came in for diner. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Save room for dessert!

Lovely stay at the Hotel Carter as usual. The hotel is very quaint and comfortable, my room was super cozy and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast consists of a nice assortment of housemade baked goods, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and a hot entree served table-side. While I did not eat at Restaurant 301 for dinner during my most recent stay, I have dined there pre-covid many times and the food is always wonderful.

You could not possibly find better service and the wine collection, OMG?!?!?

One of the more disappointing accommodations we've stayed with. The staff does not mask, the common spaces are poorly ventilated and the staff was not helpful or courteous in our efforts to have a covid-safe vacation.

Other than that, the room was okay, but the windows didn't open, there was no AC, and it is in a pretty noisy neighborhood. Better to just get a Motel 6 or similar and save your money for vacation activities,

Definitely the best hotel in Eureka. Dog friendly rooms aplenty so LuLu could be with us during our four nights stay. Delicious breakfast included served daily. Dining area off limits to dogs but lobby area is open for them and we ate our breakfast near the fireplace. My sister lives nearby in Bayside and we’ve finally found a place to stay that we will gladly return to.

The bed was comfortable. The service was very personable. It's more interesting than just staying at a modern hotel. And, while it's not modern, you can still they keep things up. I've stayed in classic hotels before where it was cool, but certainly could use some tiles replaced or a counter redone. No such concerns here, what-so-ever. We were quite pleased and would return. Oh... and their breakfast, which was included was WAY, WAY better quality and taste wise than other "included" so-called breakfasts.

The room was nice and clean. I will say that the shower was on the archaic side, but that is part of the charm I suppose. The reason I am here though was the complimentary breakfast menu items. Now, there are two parts to the complimentary breakfast, there's a little mini buffet style where you can grab some good fresh fruit and pastries and tea and coffee, and then there are the menu items. Stick to the buffet.

We got the "french toast" and it was... awful. It was by the numbers horrific.

1. It was on the wrong kind of bread. It was on a slab of an unremarkable french bread, which meant that the texture was going to be bad to start.
2. The compote was bitter, and not a little bitter but more bitter than the kind of bitters you would intentionally put in an Old Fashioned.
3. The fruit tasted like it had started to rot and that was just visibly covered by the compote rather than being trimmed off.
4. The whipped cream, while clearly housemade, was also housemade from rancid heavy cream and then overwhipped almost back into butter.

The combination was an affront to the very concept of cuisine, and rather than being served a breakfast, I felt as though I was experimented upon without my consent. Had this abomination not been free as part of the stay, I would have demanded a refund.

That said, the breakfast buffet part was great and the dinner menu smelled good, though we ate a bit later in the evening so we were unable to partake. But I'm sure they'll stop experimenting with expired leftovers for breakfast after this so, I am certain you'll have a lovely stay.

Very nice modernized old style hotel. A lot of thoughtful details and very friendly staff. Happy Hour was busy and nice guests attended.

Amazing. They treat us like family every time we're there. My favorite place to get away!

LOVELY, COMFORTABLE PLACE TO STAY

We stopped in Eureka on our way to a graduation at the University of Oregon for our grandson in Eugene. Our stay in Hotel Carter was just terrific. The 'innkeeper' was delightful and helpful and gracious, as were all of the rest of the staff we interfaced with. Our room was very nice...spacious, clean, well appointed. And surprisingly, we had an absolutely 5 star dinner at the hotel restaurant. Every dish was delicious. The server was so attentive and accommodating. We loved the complimentary breakfast which was also superb. If we are ever in Eureka again we will stay at this lovely facility. Our dog Alfie loved it too. The hotel, not the breakfast.
