Als britischer Pub, wie man ihn liebt, eignet sich The Whale & Ale besonders gut für ein Abendessen. Hier stimmt einfach alles, von der Dekoration über die Atmosphäre bis hin zu den Pints Guinness. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen - wie die Tacos mit Fisch oder Garnelen - besteht die Speisekarte hauptsächlich aus englischen Spezialitäten: Bangers and Mash - imposante irische Schweinewürste, die mit Kartoffelpüree serviert werden - traditionelle Fish and Chips , Shepherd's Pie - dessen französisches Pendant das Hackfleisch Parmentier wäre... Alles ist frisch und wird mit viel Liebe zum Detail zubereitet.

Our server was great....very friendly and very attentive, and all the staff seemed pretty welcoming. The atmosphere is a bit more dive bar than Irish pub and could use a little updating.
The food was a little hit and miss. The chowder was a little fishy, and the ice cream with the bread pudding was freezer burned. But the French Dip was really good (and those fries/chips are probably worth the visit all by themselves)! The Scotch egg was different than any other we've tried, but in a good way.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy, but was starting to pick up as we left. So probably a good sign that the locals were starting to flow in.
Not a "must stop", but worth a try.
