DOUBLE TREE BY HILTON SEYCHELLES ^{* * * *}

One of the most abysmal hotel stays I have ever had. Basically this hotel was made in the 1800svor even before and never renovated since. The furniture is old, the rooms and bathroom fittings, appliances, doors are all old and outdated. However, the prices are extremely high due to the brand name of double tree attached to it. It is a relatively small hotel with a few rooms hence almost all rooms are ocean facing, probably the only good thing about this hotel. Hotel had NO manager employed to address our concerns. Staff is rude. Even though we had prepaid for our meals, food options weren't available (even water wasn't provided during dinner). We upgraded to the executive room for a better experience but that seemed to add on to the misery. The so called private jacuzzi didn't work and water leaked all over the floor. We were so disappointed with the stay that stayed for 2 days out of our 4 day stay in Mahe and changed our hotel for the other 2 days even though our room was prebooked and booking was not refundable

DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles gave us an experience that's right out of the fairytale book. Breathtaking views, friendly staff, mouthwatering food and memories that will be with us for a lifetime. I also want to give special thanks to Chef Abhishek who treated us with delicious parathas during our stay there. Best honeymoon experience ever.

Lage: direkt am Anse Forbans, d.h.am nördlichen Teilstück, durch Felsen getrennt (leicht zu crossen) vom südlichen unbebauten Teilstück. An der Strasse direkt gegenüber Minimarket und Takeaway.
Room: war 2 Nächte in 204, fantastischer Meerblick, Balkon mit Liege, Stuhl, Tisch. Top. Das war besonders während eines komplett verregneten Tages sehr von Vorteil. Geräumiges Zimmer, Klasse Bad. Klimaanlage etwas nervig, da sie nur funktioniert hat, wenn die Balkontür GENAU fixiert war. Ich reise viel in den Tropen, so etwas hatte ich noch nie. Ohne Klimaanlage (nur mit Ventilator) ging es nicht, das Zimmer war binnen 10 Minuten komplett feucht. Auch sowas hatte ich noch nie, however, das Zimmer war sehr gut.

Frühstück: Buffett, sehr gut für Seychelles-Verhältnisse.
Bar: indiskutabel hohe Preise, NO GO, ich verstehe es einfach nicht, warum es SO teuer sein muss.
Service: es gab Probleme mit meiner Zimmertür, das war sehr nervig, weil es unterm Strich 2 Stunden gedauert hat, am Ende hat es das Technik Team aber sehr charmant gelöst.
Fazit: ich hatte einen guten Aufenthalt, etwas vermiest durch einen komplett verregneten Tag. Für das Hotel spricht ganz klar die direkte Strandlage, es ist quasi ein Privatstrand. Ausserdem ist das Hotel relativ klein. Auch ein Vorteil. Die Anlage ist älter, hier und da sind Renovierungen nötig.

Wir waren nur für einige Stunden im Rahmen eines Ausfluges hier, zum Mittagessen mit Badeaufenthalt.
Baden konnten wir leider nur im kleinen Pool, da gerade Ebbe war. Der Strand war ganz okay.
Das Mittagessen war minderwertig.
Für 2 kleine Bier haben wir 19 Euro bezahlt.

This hotel is a disaster with a new disappointment waiting for you every day. We arrived into our room and instantly felt it was extremely warm, told reception about it, told the air conditioning would be fixed, next day extremely warm again (outside 31c, inside was warmer) spent 4 days of this back and forth game of fixing but never getting fixed until we demanded a room change, basically no sleep for 4 days. The second room had a perfectly working air con and we were happy enough at that point. The hotel is reasonably kept but aging and in desperate need of renovation and tidying up, it just looks shabby everywhere. The food is ok but overall quite bland, we never thought anything tasted especially good, just edible. The prices for anything off the menus are outrageous, drinks cost between 15-30 euro per drink, a simple lunch meal will set you back 30-50 euro, it's crazy. We were forced to partake in the mandatory Christmas and new years "gala" dinner which was basically a bit better buffet for an extra cost of 140 euro per person per event even though we had already paid for half board, another letdown. The staff are friendly enough and do their best I guess, but often you feel they know about all the issues and are annoyed when you point them out (I overheard the air con issue multiple times). The location is alright to get around if you have a rental car but the beach at the hotel is borderline unusable, it's flooded with seaweed on the beach, and not maintained or tidied and full of seaweed and in the water as well. Overall I wouldn't recommend staying here, it's extremely expensive and in my view is a 3 star hotel at best, all in all we were quite disappointed with our holiday and from chatting with other hotel guests, they felt the same. Without the air con issues I'd have given 3/5 as it's a passable average hotel, but with the issues it's 2/5 and I don't give out bad reviews lightly.
