EMPLOYEE AND GUEST BEWARE: Although colleagues are all super friendly, management was the WORST toward the end of my employment here.(No training either was left alone by 3rd day and trained myself)Worked the night audit shift for Danfords and TPG didn’t even have the funds to get a security guard. Their parking lot has a lot of gang related violence going on late at night so make sure you have some sort of protection. Some of the doors to main lobby don’t lock correctly even after you tell management Numerous times. Mold/ mildew infested rooms, kitchen basement floods, MAJOR Fly issue(beware of the food in this case)…. Raccoons nests under the dock AND HAVE SNUCK INTO THE BASEMENT!!!TPG expects this place to be held in good hospitality standards but little do they know it’s more of a MOTEL than a hotel. 6 months as a night auditor, they took away the office to do work, even forced us to stand 8 hours overnight with no break, that was the breaking point. OH and this review is now going up because they called me and I was asked if I wanted to come back since I was REALLY good at handling their statistics and I could use the office and chairs (I said yes)and they didnt have the decency or a solid answer for not calling back after 2 months. Look elsewhere to stay/ work this place is fishy and not because of the ocean it’s on. TPG DO BETTER

We came to spend Thanksgiving with family having not been home in over ten years. Staying right at Port brought back so many amazing moments in time. Danfords, you have done Port proudly! Our corner room was amazing and surprising having views on all three sides! Warmly welcomed, fireplace thawed us, breakfast was great and the parking was easy. Thank you Danfords!

Room was not as nice as expected, the phone on one side was RIPPED out of the wall, the railing was broken with nails sticking out, no elevator for handicap for second or third floor, VERY thin walls, desperate need of a refresh BUT still charging RIDICULOUS amount of money per night even with terrible experience. ALSO shower was DISGUSTING!!!

Jennifer and Staff were super accommodating. The staff at the restaurant were incredible, and the food equally as much. The room was everything we could’ve asked for and the view was priceless! This is a wedding anniversary getaway we will never forget! Thank you Danfords(EVERYONE)!

The room was beautiful. Great view of the water, private balcony and a fireplace. A little expensive for one night on a winter weekday but definitely worth it. Staff was very friendly and food was delicious. Definitely would recommend

The staff at Danfords makes it my favorite place. I have stayed at their beautiful Inn 3 times since November. The check in Ladies, bartenders and wait staff are kind, professional, personable and “Masters of their Craft” My room last Saturday (B-6) was spectacular to say the least! You could land a small plane in it. The view from my balcony was breathtaking! Take a bow everyone!

I booked a room for an overnight stay and was very disappointed, not only by the room but also by the response of the hotel to the problem.
Right off the bat, I was surprised by all the "fees," in addition to the advertised cost of the room, that weren't mentioned until they were applied to my bill. Then, the room itself was clean, but pretty basic. Worse, it faced the busy street and was incredibly noisy, between the noise of passing cars, the voices of passing people, and the noises audible from the rooms behind and above it, making sleep almost impossible - and I'm not a light sleeper. The people in the adjoining rooms were not being loud - just ordinary levels of noise - but their voices and footsteps were clearly and constantly audible - and even the shower made a screeching noise.
Because the room was on the ground floor and fronted directly on the street, the "village view" designation was pointless, as not only was there no view, but heavy blackout shades were required to keep passers-by from looking in, and the light from the streetlamps out.
When I mentioned the noise issue during checkout, the person at the desk said she would pass my comments on, but she couldn't have been less interested.
The breakfast buffet was pleasant, and the croissants were nice, but it was impossible to avoid the TV playing Fox News.
Overall, very disappointing.

Added - the form-letter response didn't help, either... it just made their indifference palpable. They didn't fail to "exceed" my expectations... they failed to even meet them. There are other hotels in the area and I won't be staying at Danford's ever again.

Do not eat at their restaurant unless you have 2 hours, Location is great, live music was great, service was non-existent. People next to us were locals and said it was normal and all they did there was order a bucket of drinks and never eat there.

Spent a Night at Danfords in a lovely room with a water view. The room was clean and the king size bed was comfortable! I was there celebrating the sale of my house. The bartenders were nice. Maxwell made my cocktails accordingly ????????The food needs some improvement especially the calamari, fillet mignon was great. The front desk ladies were extremely nice especially Lauren. Management helped me with my gift card credit. I give them overall 4stars. I will stay there again.

My recent stay at Danfords Hotel, Marina & Spa in Port Jefferson, New York, was a delightful experience that combined nostalgic charm with holiday comforts. Established in 1986, this charming hotel, originally the Danfords Inn, offers a nostalgic nod to the village's bustling shipbuilding era with some buildings dating back to the 1800s. It is nestled in the picturesque seaport village of Port Jefferson, known affectionately as "down port" by the locals, offering stunning harbor views and a slice of maritime history.

Personalized Welcome:
A highlight of my experience was the exceptional service provided by Lauren at the front desk. Her warm, engaging manner made me feel incredibly welcome, turning a simple check-in into a delightful interaction. We chatted like old friends, and her recommendations and insights into the area enriched my stay. It's rare to find someone who makes such a genuine effort to connect and ensure guests feel at home.

Accommodation Choices:
While I opted for the most budget-friendly option in the Driftwood building, my room on the 3rd floor was spacious and charming. The room's high ceiling with wooden beams added a rustic charm, while the king-size bed provided a haven of comfort. The thoughtful inclusion of a coffee maker and mini-fridge added to the convenience. The decor was tastefully done, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. For those considering different options, the hotel offers a variety of rooms and suites, some featuring fireplaces, water views, and additional luxury touches. While you can request a porter’s assistance, it's worth noting there are no elevators in any of the buildings except for the Admirals Building (where you check in), so choose your room based on mobility needs.

Atmosphere & Location:
The festive decorations throughout the hotel and the village's charming streets created a magical holiday atmosphere. The beautiful views of the harbor and marina reminded me of the unique maritime history of Port Jefferson, making my stay not just a hotel visit but an immersive experience. Another unexpected treat was the live stage production of “A Christmas Carol” at Theater Three, just a short distance from the hotel.

Dining & Amenities:
The included continental breakfast was a pleasant way to start the day, with a selection of pastries, bagels, boiled eggs, fruits, and more. For dining out, the hotel's location is unbeatable, with fantastic local restaurants like Pasta Pasta, The Fifth Season, Ruvo, and if you’re craving ramen, Slurp is just a short walk away. The hotel's own amenities, including its restaurant, lobby bar where I enjoyed 2 complimentary drinks, and the on-site spa added an extra layer of relaxation to my stay.

Considerations:
Although the room was generally quiet, some street noise was noticeable until midnight. Additionally, the $29 daily destination fee might be off-putting for some.

Final Thoughts:
While the room was the least expensive option, it didn't skimp on comfort or charm, proving that Danfords offers quality across its range of accommodations. The daily destination fee is a consideration, but the overall value, especially given the exceptional service from staff like Lauren, makes it worthwhile. Danfords Hotel, Marina & Spa is more than just a place to stay; it's a place where you're treated like a welcome friend, surrounded by history, and indulged with comfort. My time at Danfords was a highlight of my holidays, and I look forward to returning.

Best possible location on the port. The service and offerings are very well curated and the staff is helpful and cordial. The vibe of the place is relaxed yet sophisticated and gives an inviting and warm feel like a cottage by the sea. The eooms are also well stocked and clean. Furniture and appointments are a bit dated but still charming: I chalk it up to the age of the property. But all in very good order being directly on the water. I was charmed and can't wait to visit again.
