Twelve Senses is a true hidden gem. The attention to detail is amazing, from the complimentary Prosecco and home made cookies to the sustainable room elements and boutique design touches. The roof deck is lovely and fantastic breakfast is a wonderful addition to the stay. Best of all is the friendly owner Anke and her friend Meaghan who felt like long lost friends despite meeting them for the first time. All in all an awesome retreat to relax and recharge.

Nice roof deck and comfortable room. Unfortunately not possible to sleep in because of the noise from people coming and going next to my room. It’s a remodeled residence and it feels like it - feels a tad too small and awkward to function as a hotel; no one properly greets you when you arrive. Nice homemade breakfast included and some nice personal touches in the room. I enjoyed my stay but did not feel like it was a good value.

We had the most lovely stay for our babymoon this past weekend. The whole set up and design is so relaxing and peaceful. The breakfast each morning was delicious and it was the best latte I’ve ever had! Anke, the owner, is kind, attentive and made us feel right at home. This is a special place. We will absolutely be back.

What a beautiful place to stay. I found it very peaceful and relaxing. Exactly what I needed. The breakfasts each morning were so good and I loved the various options. There are so many unique and thoughtful touches included in the room. You can tell that a lot of care and intention went into curating the perfect combination of amenities. Everyone helping out was incredibly friendly and willing to do extra if needed to make my stay wonderful. I highly recommend and would love to return.

We stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was perfect. The room was spacious and our host was so thoughtful in making our stay and experience as good as it could be. The breakfast was also great (Turkish eggs) and we loved the elemental theme of the place and of our fire room. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

What to say about this true gem tucked away in the heart of Encinitas. My husband and I decided to book our wedding night here and it truly couldn't have been more perfect.

From the moment we arrived Anke made us feel welcome. She has clearly put her heart and soul into this beautiful space and it shows. We stayed in the fire room where everything is oriented toward the element of fire. it was large, spacious and had a fireplace that gave the perfect warmth and romantic feeling for our special night. Everything is organic from the bed itself to the towels and sheets. The soaps smelled amazing, she left us thoughtful cards, a bottle of sparkling wine, and served us the most delicious organic breakfast in bed. It was one of the best stays I have ever had. The care, detail and energy that has been imbued in the space makes this such a special experience. It truly sparks the twelve senses.

We are already planning our return for the summertime. If you have the chance you should absolutely stay here. We were lucky to be able to see all the rooms before others checked in and each are magical in their own way. 10 out of 10.

Absolutely amazing experience! Anke, the owner, has exquisite taste and it shows. Every little detail from the welcome snack to the pillow chocolates to the gourmet breakfast was perfectly executed! And beyond the food, the room was gorgeous, clean, and inviting. Perfect location, easy parking and self check-in. I wouldn’t change a thing!

The rooms are amazing and did I say its theme was based on elements, Earth, Fire, Water and Air? It’s so beautiful that it’s a member of prestigious Design Hotel. Not many can claim the fame. And the food?! Perfection! Can’t recommend this place enough for a quick getaway from your busy life! They have e-bikes and you can walk to the Meditation Garden and to the Swamis Beach. My partner and I are locals and opted to experience a holiday ’stay cation’ at Twelve Senses. What an extraordinary place!! Every detail in our room reflected sophistication, beauty and peaceful space. We loved the simplicity of the design which made us feel relaxed and comfortable. More importantly, we appreciated the drive for sustainability in all the aspects of the provided amenities. The neighborhood is quiet and yet the hotel is very close to the beach and all the wonderful restaurants and shops in Encinitas! We highly recommend staying here! It’s truly a unique space for all ecologically and healthy minded travelers.

Twelve Senses Retreat is a gem!
I loved every minute I stayed there. I was in the Air room and it matched exactly the pictures on the site. Anke, the lady of the house thought of every detail possible to make her guests feel welcome. From the drinks, to the snack, to the flowers, the bedding to the yoga mat and much more, all within an incredible designed space.

I don't need to repeat the other reviews but I will anyway cause I chose from the breakfast menu the granola one morning and the other morning the muesli (personal recipe of Anke's family) both beautiful, delicious and very filling as well !! Anke was very kind to accommodate me for my dietary restrictions too.

Sleeping was very quiet and confortable and the location is very close to the town and the beach ( 5-10 minutes drive I would say)
Overall I loved it! thank you so much Anke and her stuff for a great get away!
I will gladly come back when I can, so nice to meet you.

Twelve Senses bed and breakfast is a perfect choice if you are looking for a beautiful wellness retreat. Anke is the owner of this thoughtfully curated micro hotel and her eye for detail is impeccable. The food is delicious, the beds are dreamy and it is very clean and sustainable. The Twelve Senses Retreat is aptly named -- the moment you enter the property you immediately feel that you've retreated from the noisy, hectic everyday world. Many little touches enhance the experience, from the convenience of being able to check-in and check-out from your phone to savoring the night-time breezes from the rooftop deck. As others have mentioned the breakfasts are healthy and delicious and the decadence of having a freshly pulled shot of espresso delivered to your room in the morning is out of this world. I had a wonderful stay. Bravo, Anke!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Anke and twelve senses retreat. The attention to detail, quality of products, and curated experience exceeded my expectations. We spent my bachelorette weekend here and we're able to enjoy the tranquility of a bed & breakfast while also being conveniently located near downtown Encinitas. I am blown away at the value we got with everything and highly recommend booking a weekend here!

Anke and her team are incredible hosts. From the amazing organic breakfasts and their love of animals (and the welcome bowls and treats they received upon check in!), to the thoughtful decor and amenities of hotel-including incredible yoga and sound baths, I heartily recommend 12 Senses Retreat!

This unique place is a delight. It is spacious, quiet, light, and sustainable.
The uncluttered, contemporary room has everything needed, including a small patio. The huge plus for me is all the natural products, from pillows, mattress, towels, and no smell of chemicals or perfumes. A yoga mat was provided, and there is room for a yoga practice in the room. The rooftop seating area is also lovely and has bottled water for purchase.
