We enjoyed three days at the lodge earlier this week. This is one place I was so comfortable being in, that I napped peacefully and rested well each night.
The loons on the lake and morning sunrises were glorious.
Our Placid suite was so incredibly comfortable and pleasing with two fireplaces!
The fridge was refreshed daily and it was wonderful to not have to buy and carry basic necessities back to the room.
Breakfast on our private porch consisted of hot tasty blueberry pancakes that were so good, I had them both days.
The tour around the lake in the lodges hackercraft was lovely and we kayaked one day too- both included as part of our stay.
The bathrobes were soft and just the right weight. I bought two!
We enjoyed playing pool in Maggie’s and wished the place would have stayed open a bit later- it was a warm inviting atmosphere.
Artisans was not a good as we’d hoped, but I’m sure most would find it enjoyable. We’re a restaurant family and live in the Hudson Valley near the culinary institute, so we might be tougher than most.
In short, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and plan to visit again and again.

Unrivaled views...beautiful cozy cabins...wonderful service...food okay at Maggie's but very good at Artisans. Very pricey, but in the end, well worth it. I feel badly that not everyone can afford the treat that is The Lake Placid Lodge.

I wasn't impressed at all. Especially for the value. We even had to call to get permission to go have a drink. They wouldn't serve us dinner. The Adirondacky decor was what I would refer to as strained tchotchke. Like cutouts from kindergarten and finger paints to finish. The bar faces nothing and the bartender looked terrified like he just got out of bartenders college although the drinks were fantastic at $40.00 for two Cosmo's not including tip. The original was so authentic and elegant and this looks like a rush to reopen. I'm in this business professionally for 50 years so maybe I'm just a little bit to critical but if your looking for the real old style Adirondack elegance this ain't it. Dang. I was really looking forward to it too.
My only critique is with their security/privacy. Why entitled people from nearby clubs/airbnbs think that they can squat on private property is beyond me. The Lodge has been guests-only for years now, yet no amount of signage or verbal requests to leave the premises seems to make a difference. The Lodge is not blind to the problem, they may just need to hire some extra security. And if you do a full buyout for your wedding, be aware you may have weird strangers roaming around your events, eating your food, and even attempt to claim they're in the wedding! And they are not just oblivious, they are aggressive and confrontational.
Despite this one issue, I would do it all over again at the Lodge. There is no place like it! Can't wait to go back.
