The location of this hotel is perfect if you are walking to the tourist attractions of Rome. Near the Piazza Navona and many restaurants and cafes. The breakfast is served on the roof and you can sit on the outdoor terrace overlooking the surrounding rooftops and church next door. The breakfast service is great.We felt very comfortable here.

Stayed in this Hotel on Sunday the 7th of April with my mate as my friends were staying across the road in another hotel - it was a walk in booking. We paid €218 for a tiny room with two very small beds - these beds were so uncomfortable I can't explain how bad they were. When we booked in we were not treated well only with suspicion that there was another person staying with us as my mate was leaving her bag in the room for a while it was very strange. The check out was at 11 which is way to early - I asked the next morning if we could get an extra hour as we were so tired I got a very DIRECT NO!!!! Not an enjoyable experience at all and we were totally robbed. Oh yes they told us we were getting a room with a view which was a view of a wall.... I should have checked the room first I know but to be fair but I believed what I was promised.

The location is fantastic; we could walk to almost everything. Even though it was very centrally located, the room was quiet. Everything is kept very clean. Basic breakfast on a nice roof terrace every morning. The front desk staff was super nice and helpful with restaurant recommendations and making reservations. Cons: rooms are small by American standards, furnishings were a bit worn down, the mattress was not comfortable, the pillows were very hard, the shower stall was quite small, poor lighting and ventilation in the bathroom. Overall: good value and great location.

Such a great hotel! Decent location, comfortable rooms, and great breakfast. Breakfast included a variety of bread, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and made to order coffee. Such a great price for what you are getting, would definitely stay again.

Hôtel paisible dans le centre de Rome proche de tous les monuments.
Personnel est très accueillant et disponible (possibilité de laisser les valises le dernier jour).
Petit déjeuner copieux servi par un personnel souriant.
Bon rapport qualité/prix pour Rome

24 day stay in February-March 2024. Location, location, location! Fantastic neighborhood. Many restaurants. Excellent gelato at Yummy on Via Scrofa. A good laundry just around the corner. A jewel box of a church next door. A low-fee ATM at the post office a few blocks away. Two churches with four Caravaggios near the post office. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast room has the best urban views ever, with quality food choices. Our room was so comfortable, and very quiet when we closed the window. Taxis are readily available. The famed Piazza Navona is maybe 200 meters away, with handy bus lines on the street just east of the piazza. The Pantheon is only a little further away than P. Navona. Picturesque only begins to describe the delightful neighborhood. I would rate this hotel 6 stars if google allowed it.

Hotel extrêmement bien situé en plein centre-ville. Les chambres et l’hôtel sont vieillissantes, fenêtres qui ferment mal, réparées tres grossièrement. Petit déjeuner très très basique, tant sur la nourriture que sur le cadre; le personnel a l’accueil est assez chaleureux mais au petit déjeuner, les serveuses font le strict minimum… bref, oui pour l’emplacement, mais boaf pour le petit déjeuner et la vétusté

I've spent a cumulative twenty-six weeks vacationing in Rome over the years, and this is my favorite hotel!

Via del Portoghesi is a low-traffic street, and this hotel is super-charming AND if you open the windows, you can enjoy the sounds of people strolling to and fro - we saw an engagement party on Friday night!

The church next door features organ concerts, which may not be your thing, but it is so underrated - it's not on the tourist list but it's def a top-20 Roman church! Also within a couple of blocks are good restaurants, deli, wine shop, and supermarket!

Staff is truly excellent and super helpful. Breakfast is buffet-style, limited but inclusive enough and high-quality - the prosciutto is fresh and abundant - up on the rooftop and in good weather you can dine on the deck!

Room 20 has a special charm - it's got a large entry foyer with huge well-organized closets, a comfy living area, and while the bedroom doesn't have a window, it gets great ventilation and it occupies part of the church, and you can hear the organ on Saturday mornings after breakfast if you hang out.

Most of all, it's a great value. It's a little quirky, but that's what makes it special.

Did a side trip from France to Rome with my stepdad in Sept of 2023. He felt more comfortable in a hotel given that we'd never been to Rome. The entire stay was excellent! We paid extra for pickup from the airport...totally worth it! Front desk staff was super helpful providing directions and other tips. The location was great too. We absolutely loved the rooftop breakfast...the food and the view! A must stay when in Rome!

The Hotel Portoghesi is a lovely little gem set in a neighborhood of cozy shops and restaurants and polished to a high gleam by its attentive staff (notably Giuseppe and David at the front desk and the always-smiling Vincenza, serving an array of breakfast options each morning on the top floor). All-in-all, The Hotel Portoghesi offers comfortable lodging with a personal touch that larger, swankier hotels can't match.

Very nice hotel stay for us. Our room was spacious and wonderful. We found the mattress on the hard side and wished for a softer mattress or pillow topper. The location is fantastic and quiet. The staff was one of the best parts of the stay. Very polite and helpful.

All in all we were very satisfied and the thought the hotel was a very good value for the money.
