DELHI BRASSERIE

Dinner started with the waiter getting visibly impatient while we were choosing from the menu (and we did not spend too long on this!) When they brought the starter, our napkins were literally thrown into our lap. (As if we would not know proper table manners ... we were still choosing from the wine list at that moment and just did not get the chance to do so ourself). Papadums and chutney were ok, but nothing special. During starters, we had to keep the waiter twice from removing our starter before we had finished it all. To continue, I ordered red wine and got white wine instead (White wine to accompany spicy Indian food ... you must be crazy!!). I did not even bother to complain. At that point the only thing we wanted was to get out as quick as possible because the cold air was really bothering us. The main course was decent, but a bit dull and not very rich. The naan bread and the pilau rice were good. But, we have had so much better Indian food in the past, going out dining or prepared by friends! And again, a waiter almost collected our plates before we were finished. I guess this was the final sign to beat it. (And, we were not slow! I am aware these restaurants depend on a good table turnover, but these waiters just made me feel like a cash cow!!) Upon paying however, they suddenly remembered how to properly treat guests ... we got wet napkins for our hands, a discount loyalty card, and help with getting our coats on ... Based on what we experienced, this restaurant just does not disserve good reviews, let alone recommendations.
