Το ξενοδοχείο ιδρύθηκε το 1866 από τον Σάββα Κέντρο που είχε καταγωγή από την Ήπειρο και αρχικά εγκαταστάθηκε σε κτήριο επί των οδών Σταδίου και Καραγιώργη Σερβίας. Πρώτος του πελάτης θεωρείται ότι ήταν ο Μπενιζέλος Ρούφος. Το 1874 η ξενοδοχειακή επιχείρηση μετεγκαταστάθηκε στο μέγαρο Αντώνη Δημητρίου που είχε ανεγερθεί το 1842 και στο οποίο στεγάζεται μέχρι και σήμερα. Το 1878 εισήλθε στο μετοχικό σχήμα ο Ευστάθιος Λάμψας.
Κατά το 1888 το ξενοδοχείο ήταν ένα από τα πρώτα κτήρια της Αθήνας που ηλεκτροδοτήθηκαν.
Pokój z bardzo wygodnym i dużym łóżkiem ( dobry sen po zwiedzaniu), łazienka w pięknym stylu, z wanną i osobnym prysznicem.

Me and a coworker wanted to take a couple of pictures outside the entrance of the hotel, so when we went up the stairs a security guard tried to stop us for some reason from entering the building. I realised that in order to get to the concierge we had to tell him for what reason we were going in the hotel. So after he thought it was “OK” for us to be there, we asked for the contact of the PR person in order to get a permit (if needed) to take a picture outside the hotel, Which if you ask me is not much to ask. The man at the concierge was really rude, almost as rude as the security guard, and after he got the contact for us he said “maybe it wasn’t as easy as you thought it would be“ sarcastically.
So: No matter how old the hotel, no matter how “premium” it is: if your personnel is not trained, and is rude to its guests, i’m afraid it’s not THAT premium.
