ARTEMISIA

Our experience:
We did reservation through booking they assure us that we won’t be on the cold at night.
We got our keys as they said in the keybox.
We got a room with a shared bathroom. The toilet and shower were clean.
The bedroom was big.
The carpet could have done with a clean.
And the decoration in the room was a bit unusual.
The temperature of the room is actually good. We were never cold.
The staff didn’t speak a lot of English but that is something that usually happens in Berlin so I was okey with it. We communicate by google translate.
The room had a Tv with the possibility to see some german cartoons. Which is something our toddler loved.
We also asked our bin to be change everyday and they did so without a Fail.
We felt safe, it was our little home in Berlin for a week or so. If you need a place to stay that is cheap this could be a good option.
Also sharing a room with only one room wasn’t bad at all.
As well you have the metro station practically on your doorstep.
From the room you might be able to heard : sirens, bells, traffic…..etc so you could might need some earplugs to sleep.
Besides you have a the possibility or ordering some breaftast for 10 euros per person.
I booked 3 nights in this "hotel" directly with them. After exchanging few mails in English, I gave them my bank card No so as to block the respective amount for my reservation. They asked me if I was to check-in after 21:00’ as there is no reception desk available after this time and I advise them that my flight was landing at that time so the earliest arrival would be at around 22:00’. Thus, as per their procedure, they proposed me to leave the room key in a keybox and they gave me the code. Once I arrived there at 22:30’ the electronic keybox was not providing me any key! Either the key was not left inside or it was not working properly. I tried 100 times and no key was provided! Other tenants walking by, saw me trying during the cold night… Of course I called the hotel number directly several times and nobody was answering as they are operating till 21:00’!! Which means that whatever may happen to you from 21:00’ till next morning you are left alone! I even sent them emails during that time and of course no reply… I spent 40’ till midnight trying to find a hotel to spend the night… Luckily I found one paying 180 Euros extra for that night and only….
Next morning I went back to hotel Ambert in order to explain them what happened and my frustration about and to ask them to at least refund the 1 (out of the 3) night I spent elsewhere due to their mistake (either the key was not left there OR the keybox was not working – I couldn’t access the hotel). The reception ladies couldn’t communicate in English, were rude and absolute that “no refund can be provided”. So they charged my card with the full amount! They didn’t even try to calm me, they were always telling me that it was my mistake and only!
So either I am stupid or incapable to access a keybox! Maybe the other tenants watching me trying, were too…
When I asked to speak to the Hotel Manager or someone in charge, they were telling me that “he is not available nor talking to clients and that I have to send an email”…..
Finally, I managed to reach the room I booked… Another disaster…..
One of the dirtiest carpets of the world, broken tiles, bad smell in the room, mold, windows ready to fall apart- see pictures attached. No soundproofing…. Noise till late!
Long story short, because of their failure to provide me the key, I was left alone in the pavement at 22:45’ in the night, with 4o C, trying to find a room to spend the night. After 20 calls to hotels, I paid 180 Euros extra and Hotel Ambert denied to refund me the 1 out of the 3 charged nights.
Bonus tip: They have this abusive and illegal disclaimer – sent after the booking is done:
Dear guests, before you finally decide that you will arrive after 9:00 p.m., we would like to warn you that we do not take any responsibility for what happens after 9:00 p.m. (since our reception is no longer manned), whether it joined a technical problem upon arrival, a mistake by the employee or your mistakes. If you have any problems with late arrival and you are unable to arrive for any reason, it will be considered a "no show" and canceled with 100% penalty.
So after 21:00’ you are left in God’s hands!
PS. I never made any negative review, BUT this time I want to save other guests to be left alone with no place to stay in a cold Berlin night!!!
